This Privacy Policy explains how basirtech ('basirtech', 'we', 'us', or 'our') collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you visit our website, use our platform, or take part in our research surveys, including the basirtech Core Survey. This policy is intended to comply with Qatar's Personal Data Privacy Protection Law, Law No. 13 of 2016 (the 'PDPPL').

1. Who we are

basirtech is a Gulf consumer intelligence platform. For the purposes of this policy, basirtech is the data controller responsible for deciding how and why your personal data is processed.

2. Information we collect

What we collect depends on how you interact with us:

• Survey responses. When you take the basirtech Core Survey or a similar research study, we collect your answers only. We do not ask for your name, phone number, email address, or any other identifying detail as part of the survey, and your answers cannot be linked back to you.
• Contact details you provide directly. If you email us, subscribe to updates, or otherwise reach out, we collect what you choose to share, such as your name and email address.
• Technical and usage data. Like most websites, our site may collect basic technical information (such as device type, browser, and general usage patterns) to keep the site secure and working properly.

We do not intentionally collect personal data of a special nature under the PDPPL — such as data revealing ethnic origin, religious beliefs, health, or criminal record — through our surveys or website. If a future study required this kind of data, we would only do so with your explicit consent and any required approval from Qatar's competent authority.

3. Why we collect it

We use the information above to:

• Build aggregated, statistical consumer research and insights about the Gulf region.
• Operate, maintain, and improve our platform and website.
• Respond to questions, requests, or feedback you send us.
• Send updates or reports, only where you've asked to receive them.

Where we collect personal data with your consent — such as survey participation — that consent is our legal basis for processing. Where we process data to run our website and respond to enquiries, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating our business, balanced against your rights.

4. How survey data is used

Survey responses are combined with those of other participants and analysed in aggregate to build Gulf consumer intelligence. No individual response is ever shared, sold, or published on its own. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Participation in our surveys is always voluntary, and you may stop at any time.

5. Sharing and disclosure

We may share aggregated, de-identified insights (never raw individual responses) with clients, partners, and the public through our reports and platform. We may also share information with trusted service providers who help us run our website, surveys, and infrastructure, under obligations to keep it confidential. We do not sell personal data, and we only disclose personal data where required by law.

6. Data retention

Aggregated, de-identified survey data is retained for as long as it remains useful for research and platform purposes, since it cannot be linked back to an individual. Personal data you provide directly to us, such as an email address, is retained only for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, and is deleted or anonymised when no longer needed or when you ask us to remove it.

7. Security

We apply reasonable technical, administrative, and organisational safeguards to protect personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, loss, or misuse. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to keep data protected in line with the standards expected under the PDPPL, and we will notify affected individuals and Qatar's competent authority where a breach is likely to cause serious harm, as required by law.

8. International data transfers

We may use service providers (such as hosting or infrastructure providers) located outside Qatar to store or process data on our behalf. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure the transfer is consistent with the PDPPL, including relying on providers with appropriate safeguards in place and, where required, your consent.

9. Your rights

Under the PDPPL, you have the right to: be informed about how your data is processed; access the personal data we hold about you and request a copy; correct inaccurate or incomplete data; request deletion of your data; object to or request that we restrict certain processing; and withdraw your consent at any time where processing is based on consent. Because survey responses are collected anonymously, we're generally unable to locate or delete an individual response once submitted — but you can always decline to answer, or stop, before completing a survey.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. If you believe we have not handled your personal data in line with the PDPPL, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with Qatar's National Data Privacy Office (NDPO).

10. Children

Our surveys and platform are intended for adults (18 and above). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the 'Last updated' date at the top of this page.
